TORONTO, ON, August 22 – Olive Tree Foundation has announced that it will provide a grant to support Scouts Canada in developing a video that will encourage the creation of Scout groups in multicultural communities across the country.
"The Olive Tree Foundation is very pleased to be able fund this project," said Muneeb Nasir, President of the Foundation, in announcing the grant. "Scouts Canada has a lot to offer to families and community groups.”
The Olive Tree Foundation is a philanthropic foundation that promotes community development through the collection of endowed funds and charitable contributions to fund services for the long-term benefit of the community.
The grant will be used to create a video, which will be used with supplementary materials and other scouting resources, to encourage the creation of new Scout groups and to grow membership.
The focus of the project will be on new Canadians and cultural communities, with an emphasis on Muslim communities in Canada. The video will show what these communities will gain through Scouting, and how Scouts Canada will be enriched by having a diverse membership.
“Multi-faith and ethnic communities will greatly benefit by being part of this major Canadian organization that is devoted to community building and Scouts Canada will be enriched by growing its membership among the diverse cultural and multi-faith groups,” Muneeb Nasir said.
