Every year, my wife and I look forward to the month of December.
We wait for the arrival of this special month not because of what Santa Claus has to bring to us.
We wait for this month with patience and with high level of anticipation to attend the annual Reviving the Islamic Spirit conference that is held in Toronto.
We always try not to miss this historical event where we revive our spirits, enrich our souls with knowledge and wisdom and benefit from renowned scholars who we never get a chance to see at any other times.
People come from all over the continent with buses and other means of transportation to attend this convention.
The three days that we spend at this conference are among the best in the entire year where we meet new people and get the chance to shop around for exciting products.
The memories of this symposium stay with us for the entire duration of the year and it helps to keep our spirits high.
We get the advantage to see in person and listen to internationally acclaimed speakers such as Dr. Tareq Suwaidan of Kuwait who speaks with passion and knowledge.
Among other scholars whom we try to listen to and benefit from is Sheikh Hamza Yusuf of California. He is among the best speakers of our times who can speak directly to the heart and influence the mind.
The organizers select the most excellent scholars from around the world in order to make the event a memorable one.
Nasheed artists and comedians are also invited to the event every year to keep spirits high with their artistic and creative work.
This year’s event will be under the theme, Answering the Call of God’s Messenger: Setting Prophetic Priorities for Muslims in the West. It will be held at the Metro Convention Center December 26 until December 28.
The three day conference is to be followed by a separate extensive five-day program known as Knowledge Retreat. It is run by some of the top scholars of the conference.
It is an event not to miss, a gathering never to skip and a symposium one should never ignore.
